Astro’s Playroom Review: Ps5 Welcome Wagon

Posted on January 3, 2026 by admin

The door is a reference to show the game hid loading times, by showing a shot of a door opening to disguise the load between rooms. When entering the first wide open area, jump to the island on the left with a circle of Bots on it, one of which is wearing a purple beanie. The purple beanie refers to character Ashley Brown, while the one next to it with classes is Christopher Hartley. Further along the beach from the God of War easter egg is a giant Bot head. This is a reference to 2006’s LocoRoco for PSP, developed by SIE Japan Studio. Punching it will cause it to split into many tiny heads that then merge together, referencing the signature ability of the LocoRoco.

But, much like with the hardware artifacts, every era of PlayStation is represented in some truly hilarious ways. Astro & his crew lead you into a magical introduction through the PlayStation®5! In this fun platformer, explore 4 worlds based on the console’s components. Each area showcases innovative gameplay using the new features of the PS5 DualSense™ wireless controller.

This came pre-installed with every PlayStation 5 console to show the power of the PS5 and DualSense controller. It’s clear that gamers love these little bots, and the excitement for them now is that their full-fledged PS5 game, Astro Bot, is coming in a few weeks. Astro’s Playroom is more than a demo as its charm and gameplay shine through to every player. But once you do dive in, there’s no shortage of joy that comes from how Team Asobi has translated in-game surfaces, objects, and movement into different DualSense sensations. Need to get back to it for the special bots, downloaded it the other day but just haven’t got around to it. (LeMans and other duties) @BrettAwesome It’s been updated, hasn’t it.

This guide shows the location of the Special bot in the Memory Meadow area in Astro’s Playroom. This was the fourth and final hidden bot that the developers have been sequentially releasing before the release of the Astro Bot game on 6th Sep 2024. Or at least some more replayable sections for things I actually enjoyed.

This means you will need at least 5.800 coins, but in reality, it’s a little bit more because there are some blank prices in the machine. Collect around 6.000 – 6.500 coins and take all the prices in one go. All of that is, fundamentally, tied around the fun of using the DualSense controller.

In 2016, Siren was ported to the PlayStation 4 with added Trophy support. During the side-path to the PSone LCD Monitor, you’ll find a Bot in samurai attire next to a tree. This refers to Jin Sakai and the tree in his childhood home, as seen in 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, developed by Sucker Punch. Ghost of Tsushima was the last first-party PlayStation game developed exclusively for the PS4, after which the PS5 released. Each level of the game has at least a few checkpoints, so do not worry if Astro is accidentally killed.

Every level is full of references and Easter eggs to hardware and games that have released over the course of PlayStation’s 25-year history. I’ve been playing on PlayStation for pretty much as long as they’ve been around and seeing every single one of these things kept a smile on my face while I was playing. Trust me when I say you should go into this game seeing as little about it as possible. Unique Actions and Challenges in Astro Playroom require players to perform specific in-game actions‚ such as jumping three times during a spin attack on ice or punching a hidden bush to reveal a secret bot.

Astro’s Playroom: All Levels

On the first level, you’re going along a beach and can feel the steps you make in the sand. Each bit of grain is felt through your hand, which makes it intense in the best way. Then, the magic starts happening when these features are combined. Take when you’re exiting the beach and you’re walking against the fans that are blowing sand across you.

Every Easter Egg In Astro’s Playroom

It was he who developed the SNES sound chip for Nintendo, which led to the Play Station add-on for the system. When this partnership fell through, Kutaragi persevered and developed it into a standalone console, resulting in the original PlayStation. At the second Checkpoint, look left to spot a giant white robot with a rock club, and a Bot with a sword and tunic on a tiny pinnacle in front of him.

Just before reaching the platform at the end, a puzzle piece will appear directly in the middle of the area that you need to grab before landing. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – After jumping past the first cannon, this puzzle piece is to the left of the handholds above. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – When crossing the tightrope while being blown to the side, jump over to the platform with the flower. Hit the flower to cause another tower to appear, which has this puzzle piece on it. Artifact 1/2 “PSVR Processor Unit” – After jumping to the top of the wall, go to the right and pull the wire to reveal this artifact.

If you have any further tips, tricks, and secrets to share, please post them in the comments section below. GPU Jungle is the fourth and final zone in the game, with Artefacts covering the PlayStation 4 era from 2013 to 2019.

While it isn’t a traditional open-world title, all four maps are interconnected, akin to Bloodborne, and players can return to a central hub called CPU Plaza to access other worlds. The Access Controller is the first PlayStation controller designed to accommodate for the needs of various disabilities, allowing disabled gamers to play with greater ease. It includes multiple different stick caps, buttons with swappable tags, industry-standard AUX ports to connect other accessibility devices, and supports up to 30 different profiles. It can also be paired with a second Access Controller and a DualSense, which can all act as a single controller input. The follow-up to the original PS VR uses headset-mounted cameras rather than lights, and has a vibration motor. The interior display is four times the resolution of the original, and 3D audio adjusts with your head position.

A second reference to the game is the “Adequate, Boy…” Trophy, awarded for shooting all the rabbits at the end of Mt. Motherboard level in GPU Jungle. The name is a reference to Kratos always referring to his son as “boy”, as well as his habit of faint praise. ” Trophy, awarded for jumping into one of the water fountains at the end of Hotel Hopalot in Cooling Springs. Appropriately located in the rainy section that ends Gusty Gateway, next to a shelter you can find a Bot on the ground with an origami crane on him.

The level of detail and fidelity in the haptics is incredible, layering different feelings like attacking enemies and other environmental interactions on top of the feel of the surface you are walking on. It all feels exactly like it should, a tactile experience a game has never given me before. At this point, you should have finished all levels and maybe got some miscellaneous trophies. A lot of these trophies will have you interact with an object in the PlayStation Labo.

The platinum trophy‚ the ultimate reward‚ is unlocked by earning all other trophies and completing the game. This system ensures a smooth progression for players aiming to fully complete the game.
